Actually we do know that it wouldn't have been add successful without the voice. The song was released on the Friday and climbed to around 20,v after her Logies performance it rocketed up to #2 and then due to her Voice exposure and consequently her relationship with Channel Nine, there were moments where the song was revived because of her being on The Voice - State of Origin performance, 60 Minutes story, the final week of The Voice (after over two months of release) the exposure helped it climb on radio. There was no way she could have got that level of support for one single after being absent in the music industry for 5 years.

And I can guarantee you that when she goes over to the US and the UK, they will mention her as coach on the Australian version of The Voice which speaks volumes of how she is an established success in Australia,  especially when they mention the high calibre of the other coaches (Keith Urban, Seal, Ricky Martin and Joel Madden).

I'll admit Delta's team didn't make the most of The Voice in launching COTU. But if they did, it would have done really well and we wouldn't be having this discussion. If they use the show now, Delta is afforded a great opportunity that she won't be able to replicate until next year if she does another season. You seriously under value the importance of being on such a well loved influential show that has made Delta completely relevant when so many people would rather write her offand forget about her.

to be fair... sototw prob wouldnt have  had the longevity it did without the show but  i still think Delta's role on the show is a waste of time now... the first season,it was worth trying... the second season was ill advised but im guessing she personally felt she had something to prove by coming back..... but i just dont believe a third season makes sense... it will b nothing more than an easy pay cheque...  she doesnt seem to want to use the show to promote her music...so why bother... it isnt advancing her music for sure. its consuming her time.

i honestly dont believe people are gonna be interested worldwide. these shows are ten a penny now. maybe if the show aired internationally and there was general awareness of the specifics of the show and the controversies etc then it could be a discussion point but not when this version is unknown in such places.

honestly..i always sound like a broken record on ere but im convinced her role on the show has achieved v little for her and any further involvement will only  consume precious time and open her up to continued hate

sure she has achieved  some exposure ... but v little else positive has come from relying  so heavily on a show like this to b relevant.

time to be brave and bold and bust a gut worldwide promoting her music. otherwise how and when can it  ever happen

Hey Guys,

Im new on here, but I have read Deltas forums since I.E.

I notice a lot of people talking about why there isnt a new single from COTU and blaming Sony.

As a last year law student, I believe there might be another reason. I remember delta saying a few months ago that she had just put in place a new management team. Whilst the music would be technically owned by Sony, I suspect there would have been a cluase in her contract with her old management team that would have meant that the whole life of the album was to be managed exclusively by them. Thus, when she fell out with her last team.. there was no way she could continue with releases from the album unless there was a breach of contract.

Such exclusivety clauses are common place in bussiness contracts in relation to the release of new products.

Such a shame, although, I would argue that leting delta release the weakest song on the album as her second single would have been negligent and thus a breach.....  not an argument a court would except though (hunters, control, wol, o sol . should have come second.)

could be a grain of truth in that yes BUT where there is a will, there is a way, money solves probs like this quite easy.. IF sony believed in Delta's music so much, they could have paid out her old management and bought them out of that deal.... I personally don't know if I would say this kinda deal is in place and im inclined to believe its a label/ management prob unrelated to such a deal

^ why not, if she said it would happen , it will, Delta always keeps her word on things like this, she doesn't say it til she knows it is happening  ;) Lol,  but I agree no way -not this era- sadly

Can I be her P.A. with personal responsibility for her flight bookings... "what's that Delta? Nah, Seriously, I booked your flight, I have no idea why they are saying your booking is non-existant... Oh well, maybe you wanna stay put? cancel the vacation and head into the studio... I can book you like a block of couple days right now.. done !" :)

If I thought she'd commit to her music career if she left then I'd say jump ship after this series.

Truth is shed probably just fade back into 'between album' obscurity.

Pretty much what I think... Id tell her to jump though, what's the point slipping into this cosy judge role when she has big dreams and aspirations for her music... you have to get out and make it happen, not sit on a talent show and wait for it to happen , especially if you  aren't gonna be brazen and use the show as a vehicle to promote your own music.

^ I wonder would Universal be the logical move for her... considering she is on Decca in the states, if she could get a fresh label and decent management behind her , new life could be breathed into her career quickly ... but I wonder is the right management even in place now .....

I also wonder what was Sony's problem with COTU... did they think it was too personal and reactionary to her split with Brian..... remember the shift was so big from MI to Delta... she seemed to lose her personality and identity in her music .. maybe she took the criticism of MI so personally and I just hope they haven't dented her confidence in her direction musically / lyrically again...

Last thing I want is another Delta album thank you very much Sony ... imagine if they have her water it all down again like last time .... ugh!

Wasn't she meant to be filming the video to the 4th single late last year? Was this just something she said but it never happened? Or just something we were talking about?

This is what I don't get... im sure she tweeted in December shooting a video ... did she not? or did I imagine that, I was sure she said that in December .. like if a video was shot, why would they abandon it after spending some money on it

Must have been just talk of vague plans

Posted by greeneyes on 13 May 2013 - 04:58 AM

well at least we are put out of our misery finally..

I am very, very disappointed...

I don't think this is altogether positive news for her career per se... yes it will be nice to hear a new song and I am a One Republic fan...their new album is their best to date... I am however sceptical about Tedder's work with other artists.. patchy is the way I see it, I think he definitely holds his best stuff for his group and his work for other artists can be pretty generic and same sounding but we will see when it surfaces. his sound was fresh in 2007 but not now, you know a song he has produced for someone by now. gonna keep an open mind on the track though

But I think we are heading into another dry spell for Delta.. I imagine this is a new chapter beginning.. queue lots of tantalising tweets about "writing new music", lots of globe trotting and basically Delta will not be making the big push in America anytime soon, she wont be returning to Europe with her music either...

She may do side project stuff like the Bolton duet but there just wont be a big push for her music worldwide imo, ill be surprised if their is tbh .. If her Aussie label have lost faith in COTU and she is instead releasing new music than taking from an existing album, no way are we gonna see international labels who have tons of other priority artists plugging an album that underperformed in her native territory

I know, I know people are gonna say hey you cant see COTU underperformed and it did ok, but obviously Sony Australia are disappointed and that is why they aren't putting anymore resources into it... you just don't release an album and then release no singles from it to promote its existence if you think it is salvageable ... Sony Australia obviously aren't happy with the album sales in the last quarter of last year and to be fair they were disappointing, not disastrous, but yes disappointing and underachieving for an artist like Delta... i'm bummed they didn't even TRY with one more single but after this length of time, it is kinda a moot point now...

But yeah, basically I look forward to the new song but I think we as fans should prepare for another Delta drought... it's gonna be at least 18-24 months before another album will happen and a lot will rest on that album so she will probably take an even more painstaking perfectionist approach to it or who knows, maybe she has leaerned that long gaps aren't healthy and she might surprise us with a quick new album, I doubt it but hey , it could happen

But yeah, her international plans are on hold I feel now, I mean she was pretty clear in October that she was coming to the UK in January, obviously the disappointing sales of COTU before Christmas led to a huge re-think by her label(s) ..

the article says she is disappointed there wont be another single from the album so it sounds like it is out of her hands...

I just hope she can get things right next time, because she kinda is in a tricky place right now with regards to her music career... I feared this for a while, but news like this only confirms it, the management change again this year and now her hints that the label don't wanna invest more in plugging the album... I just hope she doesn't find herself in a bewildering place where she is stuck with a label that don't believe in her or if they drop her, I hope she can get a good new label behind her that truly believe in her.. all hypothetical stuff but yeah I think the next 12-24 months will either be very interesting watching her regroup or hopefully not full of deafening silence and no concrete plans where her profile as a musician stagnates further ..

#93564 The fourth single...?

Posted by greeneyes on 10 May 2013 - 03:23 AM

I don't for a second believe that a new album will happen in the next 12 months... no way...

when she says new music coming  I'm guessing either a stand alone ep or a repackage of COTU which is pretty much an industry norm these days....

but no way do I believe a whole new album is the works yet... or at least if it is , it wont see the light of day for at least 18-24 months now... this is Delta Goodrem aka Perfectionist we are talking about lol

I guess a stand alone ep or something must be coming, it is suspiciously disconcerting that the album hasn't been mentioned by her in any interview  since well before Xmas

,

sad that another great album wont see the success it deserves , too bad :(

#93125 The Voice Australia (Season 2) - General Discussion Thread

Posted by greeneyes on 04 May 2013 - 06:20 PM

^ ah i see what u mean now.. things are running v differently already.. id say u could be right bout 2 goin  instead of 4 each show.. would make sense

on a side note, the way contestants are eliminated on the Voice is one of the big flaws of the format i feel... like when u get rid of more than one contestant per show... it just feels like they start with too many contestants and start chucking them too fast and viewers kinda cant invest v heavily in them .. just my opinion... i think its why the voice struggles in uk compared to x factor.

but yeah back on topic.. i suppose it would be better for deltas music career if the voice wraps  asap so she can do something somewhere to reignite her career.

#93098 The fourth single...?

Posted by greeneyes on 04 May 2013 - 05:31 AM

wait... has it been confirmed that the fourth single has been abandoned or are we just presuming this? I honestly think this is a lost opportunity if true, like why not EVEN try, seriously- there's nothing to lose but everything to gain... it doesn't need a really expensive video either (tho it would be nice!) I'm really disappointed if this album is abandoned - it's MI all over again (as it were in Europe anyway) I really think Delta has her priorities all wrong if she backs out of promoting an album like this over being on a talent show like the Voice which I suspect is gonna have a very limited shelf life and evidently hasn't done her profile any favours since it begun last year... Frustrating to watch :(

#92340 The UK & Europe Fans Thread

Posted by greeneyes on 25 April 2013 - 03:45 AM

I wonder if Sony UK or Europe care much about Delta anymore... highly unlikely I think I fear now, it's 8 (!!!!!!) years since her second album underperformed upon intital release .. it was salvageable with her last single being a top 3 hot in the uk but that is all such a long time ago... Like , it looks like she seems to be having problems connecting within Australia with her label and management .... imagine how hard it will be for her in Uk / Europe now.... like the turnover in staff at Sony Uk & Ireland /Europe over 8 + years inevitably means the people who worked with her during IE and MI probably aren't there anymore or if they are, they probably aren't that interested in her as an artist, so many new artists have come and stayed/ gone since that time It all seems kinda depressingly impossible... I know there is hope and a slim chance but yknow I kinda feel nothing has changed, Delta talks very positively about her ambitions for her music but there is a pattenr now of them not materialising like she never came to the Uk/ Europe in 2008 with Delta , she never went to South America and the exotic far flung places she stated in an interview once during that era, she gave us false hope again last year when she said on tour she was coming to the Uk in January.... it's pretty likely that it just wont happen, depressing but kinda true I guess

#92045 New Delta Duet with Michael Bolton

Posted by greeneyes on 22 April 2013 - 07:44 AM

I don't necessarily think everything delta does should be judged by how successful it makes her etc.

it seems that she has been spending time enjoying her time writing and recording at her own pace with people she has enjoyed working with. Success doesn't necessarily mean how many fans you have, how much money you make, how globally recognised you are...how happy you are has a factor too.

Maybe she is content with what she's got and what she has achieved and doesn't have the desperate need to be huge with everything and anything she does. Maybe after everything she's been through in the past she just wants to enjoy the music making rather than focusing on business aspects all the time.

I'm not saying I wouldn't love her to be big in the charts again, or for us to see other people give her the recognition she deserves like we have seen in the past but we should also keep in mind what she wants too...

I could be completely wrong but I think it's something to think about :)

I would agree to an extent that getting hung up on chart statistics isn't a great thing BUT Delta has made it very clear over the years that she isn't simply focused on being a local Australian artist... she has made it clear she is chasing international success and particularly in the states... she also has only recently stated in an article that she wants more "number one hits" and "big records".. the hunger and desire to be bigger is still there.... but she doesn't seem to be going about things in a convincing way tbh imo...I know im a broken record now lol but I've said it before and will say it again, everything has rolled out in a really shoddy way since the great start SOTOTW gave ..... I blame the team and/ or label tbh ... things should have happened in the last 6 months in relation to the album.... you can say behind the scenes stuff is/ was happening but to be fair, it's hardly a common practice mid -campaign for any artist to sit on their album for over six months while it is out without promoting it or releasing singles from it ... something's up

and yeah there's no harm in doing low-key, minor side projects like this, doors can always open via interesting routes like this but tbh I just think she should be really doing something very much to do with her album now

#92015 CHART WATCH: Child of the Universe

Posted by greeneyes on 21 April 2013 - 11:39 PM

it didnt and it wont until delta does something with her music, which is fair enough.

ricky martin re-released his greatest hits this week and went to #7 which is pretty good.

i think we all need to release that COTU going Gold so quickly meant it sold a lot very quickly. And a #2 on a very busy week is still a really great feat.

A platinum accreditation is kinda far fetched however.

The music market is going to be quiet until Christmas time tbh. October-December are the busiest times.
I respect your opinion Brad , and im not flaming here but I disagree.. I don't think dropping off the  top20  within 3-4 weeks was great.. sure the initial sales were decent and very front-loaded but still if there were singles coming, if there was active music-related promotion happening , then anything was/ is possible... the album could still be charting in the top 10/ 20 consistently or periodically at least and sales would be decent then... I know the major releases are usually held for the final quarter but a hit album is a hit album any time of the year and lots of artists are actively promoting their work throughout the year...

I think she could so easily have a platinum album if she at least tried to promote the album once more with  one more single even .. it's worth a try at least, like i'd get it if she had flopped horribly with her last single .i'd understand just abandoning the album then.. but she had a top 5 6+ months ago, why is she still sitting on her hands when she has an album crammed of potential singles.... I don't get it, I honestly don't get it...

On a side note, It was Keith who benefitted last year from the Voice, and Ricky is off to a strong start, ill bet the hits album will slide quickly but he still has managed to milk the show for promoting his own music- a top 10 this week isn't anything to be sniffed at- my point though, why is Delta wasting her energies answering her critics in magazine article after article- prove them wrong and release something confidently I say instead of letting this opportunity slip by
