Topics I've Started

Greetings from Texas!

02 October 2011 - 05:32 PM

It's been a whirlwind of a couple of days, and since I stumbled across this awesome looking forum, I figured y'all would be the only ones who really cared, so you get to listen to it!   ;)

My name's Guy, my handle has nothing to do with the band Halestorm (I say they stole it from me, but as far as I can tell, we started using it at the same time), and I live in Dallas, Texas, USA.  I've never even heard of Delta until I was listening to Pandora yesterday while doing some housework, and Innocent Eyes came on.  It had me hooked from the beginning, and within an hour I had ordered all of her CDs.  (Lousy iTunes America not carrying her music.... grr.)  I don't know what it is about her voice and her music, but it reached out and grabbed me in a way that an artist hasn't done in a very long time.  Even more surprising, the more I research her, that she hasn't gained more notice or popularity in America yet.  I hope that the exposure that she's had so far, plus the fact she's in LA producing her 4th album, means that America is about to learn who she really is and what we've been missing out on the last several years.

A voice like hers is missing from the airwaves here big time... all of you Aussies (and other denizens of the world!) probably take her more for granted, because I imagine her presence is much more ubiquitous on the radio, in the media, and having the opportunity to see her in concert.  If she doesn't tour here, I just might have to take a trip to Aussie-land to actually see her!  Plus, I have a few internet friends down there who've been wanting me to visit for years, anyway, so why wait any longer? ;)

If, by some chance, you actually have a second to breathe and read your own forums... thank you for the gift of your music.  I hope you find a way to make us stupid Americans put aside our R&B and dubstep to take notice of your talent and brilliance.  For everyone else, thanks for listening and I hope to have some fun around here. =)
