Instead it is Hawthorn and West Coast the 18 club skippers think will be vying for the 2012 flag on the last Saturday in September.
When asked which other club was most likely to reach the Grand Final in the annual club captains survey, last year’s grand finalists were snubbed.
Only two said defending premiers Geelong and just the one said runner-up Collingwood.
The Hawks are the team to beat this year, the captains say, with 11 giving them the nod to make the Grand Final, while perhaps surprisingly it was West Coat that came in second, with four votes.
The Pies, Cats, Eagles and Carlton were unanimous choices to make the top eight, while only one captain thought the Hawks would not feature in the finals.
Scott Pendlebury has been nominated as the player most likely to win the Brownlow Medal, with eight captains predicting the Collingwood midfielder would take out the prestigious award.
Lance Franklin came in second, with four votes, but the Hawthorn spearhead was a clear front-runner in Coleman Medal predictions, with 14 votes.
Seven captains suggested Greater Western Sydney midfielder Stephen Coniglio would win the Rising Star award ahead of Josh Caddy, with three votes.

Greater Western Sydney have named 17 debutants in their first every AFL premiership match against Sydney Swans this Saturday night.
