For the second night in a row, MKR single handedly helped Seven to a huge win. The episode, which saw the bottom six teams revealed, was the third most watched episode in series history, below the 1.933 million for Wednesday's episode. The last time a program attracted more than 1.7 million viewers was August 26, 2010 when Seven aired the second part of the documentary on troubled AFL player Ben Cousins:

SUCH IS LIFE: THE TROUBLED TIMES OF BEN COUSINS-THU Seven 1,744,000 318,000 685,000 205,000 194,000 342,000

Outside MKR it was another low-rating night. New BBC bird documentary Earthflight started poorly for Nine, and came a close third in its timeslot. Marg Helgenburger's exit from CSI lifted the drama's figures and her final episode won the 9.30pm timeslot.
Ten had another poor night, TBL was the only program to attract more than 700,000 viewers.

Seven claimed the first ratings week of 2012 thanks to huge ratings for new US drama Revenge and My Kitchen Rules - they were the top five most-watched programs of the week.
Seven won key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, all five metro cities, and won all nights except Sunday which fell to Nine. ABC beat Ten on Monday.

Nine won the night (again) thanks to its coverage of one-day cricket, as most programs on Seven and Ten fell from last week. Now in its fifth week, Ten's Super Sunday line-up is showing serious signs of slippage, with Modern Family now the only program reaching one million viewers.
Grand Designs also slipped from last week but Midsomer Murders went slightly up.

Seven had an impressive win thanks to huge ratings for both MKR and Revenge. MKR edged out Revenge to take the top spot, but the drama topped the night in the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics despite it losing 200,000 viewers from last week's premiere. HIMYM won its timeslot and did well in the demos as well.
TBBT continued to deliver for Nine, while Alcatraz slipped from last week's premiere to a modest total.
TBL posted its highest total so far this season while Bondi Rescue, NCIS: LA and Hawaii Five-O had small increases from last week but still languished in their timeslots well behind Seven, Nine and even the ABC.

Seven won last night with MKR leading the way, even outrating PTTR. A new episode of Castle posted mediocre figures.
2 Broke Girls fell from last week's premiere but did OK in its timeslot. Two and a Half Men had a small increase but the season return of Top Gear rated poorly.
TBL had a big drop from Monday, which had a flow-on effect on the ratings of the rest of Ten's evening line-up, with the reliable performer NCIS slipping below the 900,000 mark.

Most of last night's programs were down from last week, including the ever-conquering MKR (which was 300,000 lower than last week's season high), TBBT and Sherlock. Seven won the night comfortably but there were worrying signs: Seven News lost to Nine News in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and the 20th season of The Amazing Race got off to a low start.
The ABC's line-up continued its struggle with no program pulling 600,000 after 8pm.

Seven had another huge win last night thanks to MKR, which was the standout in a very low rating night. MKR was so far ahead of the rest that it was the only program to pull more than 1.2 million viewers for the night. Most programs attracted between 500,000 and 700,000 people.
Ten's new morning program Breakfast got off to a poor start, coming fourth in its timeslot behind Sunrise, Today and ABC News Breakfast. Breakfast is Ten's second foray into morning television (it showed Good Morning Australia, hosted by Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Gordon Elliott, from 1981 to 1992) and was scheduled to debut next Monday, February 27, however it was rushed to air yesterday following Kevin Rudd's sudden resignation as Foreign Minister and launching a new challenge on incumbent Julia Gillard for the Labor Party leadership and the position of Prime Minister.
During the "early" shift from 6:00-7:00am, Breakfast pulled in 46,000 viewers compared to 216,000 and 170,000 for Sunrise and Today respectively. Ten claims its total people audience was up 67.8 per cent during 6am-9am, while it was more than doubling (up 110.5 per cent) its previous 18-49 audience.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries had a great debut on the ABC last night, attracting just short of one million viewers (the top show of the night got just under 1.2 million). The 13-part Melbourne-made series is based on the Phryne Fisher novels by Kerry Greenwood and stars Essie Davis in the title role.
Nine won the night thanks to the one-day cricket from Hobart and a strong 6.1% share from GO! Nine News won easily in Sydney and Melbourne but lost in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane (where Nine News had a rare win on Thursday).
Seven News, TT and BH&G were the leading programs for Seven.

Seven pulled off a surprise win last night (its first Sunday night win for the 2012 ratings season) thanks largely to a big jump in the audience for Sunday Night. SN, which featured Mike Willesee's interview with Victoria Cross winner Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, was the most-watched program of the night. BS, The Force, Bones and Castle also did well. Seven News more than tripled the audience for Nine News in Perth.
Mixed results for Ten's Super Sunday line-up. After falling to series lows last week, New Girl and Homeland both rebounded to above the one million mark, and topped their demographics. Modern Family slipped a bit but stayed above the one million mark also. But YTT continued to fall to a new season low, and the return of House was a flop.
The one-day cricket did very well for Nine, helping Nine News defeating Seven News in Sydney and Melbourne by substantial margins.
Grand Designs and Midsomer Murders were again the ABC's most-watched programs of the night.

The return of Billy Crystal helped boost viewership for the Academy Awards in the US. The Nielsen Co estimated Monday that 39.3 million people watched the Oscars on ABC Sunday night, up from the 37.9 million viewers during the much-panned 2011 show where James Franco and Anne Hathaway shared hosting duties.
Crystal was called in after original host Eddie Murphy pulled out. It was the ninth time the comedian and actor has done that job.
In Australia, 382,000 tuned in to Nine for their live telecast of the Academy Awards during the day, slightly on last year's 353,000. Another 271,000 tuned in for the repeat screening on GO! to make it the fourth highest rating show on digital television for the night.
Seven won the night with massive figures again for both MKR and Revenge, pulling around 1.8 million viewers. TBL hit a new season high as Luke Stephens was expelled from competition for drunkenness during a party celebrating his team's win at a challenge. TBBT continued to rate well for Nine, but Alcatraz suffered a big drop, dragging down the figures for Person of Interest.

MKR hit the 1.9 million mark for the second time this season as Queensland's Gary and Peter proved they are crowd pullers. PTTR posted a small increase from last week, and these two programs were enough to give Seven a big win. However Castle flopped in its additional timeslot for the second week in a row. Next week the current season of Parenthood resumes.
Ten showed some signs of improvement by tying with Nine in primary shares. TBL and NCIS both pulled more than 900,000 viewers. But Breakfast is really struggling.
Nine finished second in combined shares largely due to GEM, whose coverage of the one-day cricket match between India and Sri Lanka from Hobart did quite well (especially the evening session when India went on a blistering batting attack to successfully chase down the target score of 321). On the main channel however, 2 Broke Girls and Two and a Half Men slipped from last week

Seven romped to another huge win led by MKR, as Nine, Ten and ABC continued their Wednesday struggle. ABC fell into a heap without Spicks and Specks as the anchor.

The NRL season opener between the Knights and the Dragons did very well in Sydney, and even beat the formidable MKR in the same timeslot. However the match lost to MKR in Brisbane. With the help of the NRL, Nine was able to reduce Seven's winning margin from 8.4% last Thursday to 3.4% in primary shares and from 10.3% to 6.3% in combined shares.
Seven and Nine's combined shares actually increased from last week at the expense of Ten and the ABC. MKR, Grey's Anatomy and TBL all went up week-on-week.

The combination of live NRL and one-day cricket helped Nine to a big win last night.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries lost 130,000 viewers from last week's premiere but still did quite well in the timeslot.

Excellent figures by Seven News and the repeat of the third Indiana Jones movie led to another victory by Seven. Weekend Sunrise also posted a huge total.
Replacing Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals and Undercover Boss USA with another repeat of the animated movie Ice Age backfired for Ten: The Graham Norton Show and An Idiot Abroad both fell from last week, and the primary channel got less than 10% share as the result.

Seven continued its early domination of the 2012 ratings season, claiming another week and also having the top 8 programs of the week.
Seven won key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, all 5 cities and every night of the week except Friday which fell to Nine. ABC bettered Ten on Saturday.

It has been 13 days since the forum was last open and during that time, Seven simply continued its ratings domination, losing only one night during the period the forum was offline. My Kitchen Rules and Revenge continued to attract big audiences while Packed to the Rafters had a resurgence after a slow start. Nine and Ten put up some resistance but they were no match for Seven.
Here are the weekly ratings summary for the past two weeks. Starting tomorrow (March 19) I will post catch-up ratings from March 4 onwards.
