They're not particularly well written but I quite like the depth of Christian's character. The book started out as a Twilight fanfic, and while I don't think Meyer or James' style of writing are particularly sophisticated, I think booksellers haven't done it justice by dismissing it as purely erotica, especially the 2nd book. I haven't read the third yet, but I'm quite looking forward to it. It's quite good for escapism.
