I have a Nikon D5000, I only just brought it a couple of days ago from my uncle, and i wanted to know like the basics of starting off. Maybe what places to choose, such as local parks or maybe the beach.

D 5000 is a good start.

A few simple tips for landscape photography use the wide angle of your lens like 18mm. this will make the clouds look better
If you do close ups go above 50mm
You can choose a few standard programs like landscape,portrait or closeup on the button thats on top of your camera.

If you want to photoshop your pictures afterwards make shure you shoot them in NEF.
If you don't wan't that Choose Jpeg (windows won't open NEF)

I love photography... if only I wasn't so lazy I bothered to take more photos. That and my camera is so bloody heavy.
