MOVE over Rabbits, State of Origin has a new voice - Delta Goodrem.
The Aussie superstar will give the pre-game entertainment in Melbourne on Wednesday night a real headline act.
The star of Channel Nine's phenomenon The Voice, will perform her latest platinum single, Sitting on Top of the World, as well as her smash hit, In This Life, before kick-off at Etihad Stadium.
The NRL's marketing boss Paul Kind declared it a massive coup for the game.
"We've been talking to Channel Nine for some time about getting talent from The Voice involved," Kind said. "It's a great fit because The Voice and the State of Origin are ratings blockbusters. We are thrilled to have Delta perform in front of a crowd of over 53,000."
Delta will perform live on television at 7.43pm in the build-up to 8.10pm kick-off.
She has been better known as an AFL fan and used to be close friends with Swans star Jude Bolton.
No doubt the Origin stars will be lining to meet Delta after the game. Blues five-eighth Todd Carney often tweets about his affection for the singer during episodes of The Voice.
The national anthem will be performed by 11-year-old Victorian, Caitlin Marks, on the eve of her role as Annie in the Broadway musical.

"All I got is this heart that I am willing to lose, I know in this life - I give it everything."
"Found a girl inside of me that I've been missing for so long, told her I that I'd never leave."
"Just when I stopped looking I saw just how far I'd come - in this life."
"One day, we won't exist, and all the hurt will turn to dust
It is easier to shut down than to open up to trust."

The blues refer to the colour of the jumper of the New South Wales team who will be playing against Queensland (which wear a maroon colour jumper). Renee (ninafan) and her husband Nick are big rugby league fans and will no doubt be delighted at the news.I thought she was gonna sing the blues.
EDIT: the match will be shown live across the UK and Europe on Sky Sports 1, and in New Zealand on Sky Sport.

Delta is an AFL fan as the article states, and I hope this won't change her allegiance to the code.
I'm crying just thinking about it. Hope not.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks.Eissa - there is a huge rivalry in Australia between rugby and afl football. Delta is a huge sydney swans afl fan - hopefully she doesn't change and be all about rugby!

This game will actually be shown live on Channel Nine in Adelaide from 7.30pm local time, and replayed later on Fox Sports. Unfortunately you won't get to see Delta's performance on TV, as both coverage will start just before kickoff. Will this game be broadcast on foxtel as well?

In the NRL statement he talks about wanting to combine The Voice and State of Origin on TV for blockbuster ratings so I wouldnt rule it out just yet...
