It is classed under intellectual property. IP is a broad umbrella for patents, copyright, and trademarks. At times certain "articles" can overlap between these 3 but they are distinct and separate categories. In laymans terms, patents are for inventions and the processes that create that invention. Copyright is for fixed tangible mediums of expression such as a song, painting, recording, photograph, ect. Trademark doesn't really apply to this discussion so I'm not going to touch on it. They are all intellectual property though. In the case of a song your more likely then not dealing with copyright sometimes trademark can come in to play for using words that have trademark protection in the lyrics of a song such as Aqua's Barbie girl song. They got sued for that. Anyway I didn't mean to go down this road of indepth legal rules, but I just wanted to clarify basic terminology.

yeah they did and some of sets of the clip looked very much like Mattel products and if the band themselves isn't kicking up a stink about it then why is this blogger and the media?

I honestly didnt hear the similarities until I heard the mashup. It sucks that it seems she has ripped them off...

Unless you were in the studio with Delta and John when the song was written, you can't say for sure that they ripped the song off Arcade Fire. Artists need to accept that sometimes, songs will sound the same. It's not through any devious attempt to cash in on another artist's success, it's just coincidence. Unless Arcade Fire or anyone else making the accusations have evidence to prove that Delta ripped the song off, they should keep their big mouths shut. It's slander to accuse someone when you have no proof.

it's because they're interesting tbqh, people really express how they feel and are honest. A lot of the other topics aren't as interesting imo. I', not dwelling on the negativity, I don't think anyway.. I just think they have much better conversation than the other topics on this board.

Hence why I used the word 'seems' - cause it is THAT similar - just like how people believe Usher ripped off Homer Simpson with OMG. Its so similar its like he must've done it...

^ So true. Nothing is going to come of it anyway, so the story really just needs to go away and focus on more positive things.
