Recounts: Delta’s Phone Call with the Birthday Competition Winners!

On August 12, 2011 we launched our biggest competition to date! Two lucky winners were to receive a phone call from Delta herself! Delta gave Palm our winner from Thailand a call yesterday (October 4) which lasted 20 minutes! Delta also called our winner Travis from Sydney this morning and you can read his amazing recount below. Travis’ phone call also lasted 20 minutes!
I’ve kindly asked each of them to write up a recount of their phone call with Delta and share their amazing experience! We find out some new info and a few things are confirmed! Read them after the break.
Palm’s recount:
Hi all! Here is my phone call summary which I wrote with full excitement! Delta had just got back from her workout before we started our 20-minute-long phone call. Actually she got to know my existence last year for I was in the Delta Birthday Video (See? This idea is such a great opportunity to let Delta know you, so come and join, people!). For her, it is the most beautiful video she has ever seen. I, as a representative of her fans, also used this opportunity to ask her about the new album. (I know you are waiting for this!) Delta knows the album is taking so long, but she really does look forward to letting you guys hear her new music (she said: her strongest work). As for the next single, just like her management team said, no single has yet been confirmed. HOWEVER, there are decisions to be made: a ballad, an up-tempo or a song everyone can sing along. To my surprise, she mentioned the song “Standing on Top of the World” herself, but she called it “Sitting On Top Of The World” stating that it is a really great song and she is looking forward to playing that for everyone. (I asked her if that song really does exist and she said, “Oh yeah, yeah it does!” We can definitely conclude that this song really does exist and will be part of the new era!) Also, this upcoming album is going to be worldwide and Delta is very excited to see everybody in different parts of the world. Delta said she can’t say much until it’s really ready.
As for the ARIA Awards, Delta didn’t 100% confirm her upcoming performance there as things are not completely set. She is hoping to perform and she is just waiting to see what will happen. Nevertheless, she is going to be in Australia at that time to see her Aussie friends. Yay!
Apart from that, I also asked her to sing a little snippet of her new song for us. Guess what the answer was? “I couldn’t do that. I’d get into trouble” was the answer. (She’s got a piano in her room, by the way. She played some.) Instead, we sang a part of Brave Face (the highest Delta song she’s ever recorded, said Delta). Delta is quite busy. After coming back from Brazil, she had to attend a few meetings in New York and she is now dealing with the final touches on the album.
We also talked about Delta Daily and the amazing admin, Artin. She said you always do a great, great job! Thanks again for the HUGEST competition and birthday present ever! The phone call ended with our well-known phrase, “until our next chapter…”
Thanks for reading!

Travis’ recount:
Having the opportunity and privilege to talk to the beautiful Delta, has truly cemented the fact that she is such a personable and lovely person, which we all knew was an expected quality. Talking about her new challenges throughout this year and her impending release of her much awaited new album, were but a few highlights of the conversation. Speaking briefly about her new life in L.A and her newly discover pet, Priscilla the cat, was compelling and whimsical like the Delta we all have learned to love. We digressed towards stories about her busy life and how she dearly misses her Australian fans and Australia itself, which I assured her, doesn’t go un reciprocated. The thought of her ringing my University in regards to a delayed essay, due to my excessive compulsion of watching the ‘Believe Again Tour DVD’, was pretty hilarious in itself and I can only imagine the comical result. Embarrassing myself by telling her to never cut her hair was also equally entertaining as well as finding out that our homes are quite close to each other, and our love of the ‘Towers’ which is a joke that I can’t really explain, but you’d understand it if you lived where we grew up. She assured me that her album is well underway and she is in the process of finalising and untangling all the knots from her long awaited album, which is most definitely going to be worth the long wait. She also expressed to me that she is in hopes of doing many more tours throughout Australia with already an insight into what she hopes to be her next national tour following the debut of her yet to be released album. Can’t wait, and neither can she. It’s going to be an amazing new journey which she is going to take us all on and all I can say is that I really do believe she’s going to show the world why Australia is so in love with her spirit, talent and beauty.
Hopefully my initial ‘freak- out’ when I answered the ‘unknown’ call didn’t throw you too off balance. I’m holding you to that photo of us together Delta. It was a pleasure to talk to you and I’ll always be a Delta fan. It definitely was the highlight of my week, and most probably my year. Seriously though, no cutting your hair. ;)
Thanks Artin and Delta,
Travis. :)
